The principle of the intervention is centred around three fundamental scales which govern the underlying structure of the project and of the wayfinding program over the short, mid and long terms.
URBAN LEVEL
At the urban level, the wayfinding program focuses on both highlighting and also integrating the district into the broader city fabric while enhancing its identity and fostering its reputation with its immediate neighbours of the surrounding areas, with the citizens of Lisbon and also with visitors from further afield.
CAMPUS LEVEL
On the campus level, the wayfinding system is designed to navigate the diverse spaces and facilities. This includes strategically placed directional signs, detailed campus maps and thematic elements that link different zones, such as coworking spaces, labs and public areas. Displays are to provide both place-making familiarity to occupants as well as up-to-date information on temporary events, room bookings, and services to visitors.
BUILDING LEVEL
At the building level, the graphic orientation system ensures that both visitors and occupants can easily and intuitively find their way around complex interiors and that the underlying digital and physical signage system offers the flexibility of frequent changes and updates to accompany the temporary nature of the businesses housed in some of the facilities.
